The radiology department at Clinic Saint-Jean boasts modern equipment and benefits from the collaboration of radiologists specialising in varied disciplines. As pioneers in several areas of activity (Pacs, CT scanning, etc.), we aim to supply quality examinations to the various radiology sectors while adhering to the requirements for radiation dosage.
Radiology plays a vital role in medical diagnosis. It enables diagnoses to be reached more quickly, earlier and with greater precision. It also helps to shorten hospital stays and saves costs.
Our department is a pioneer in various applications:
- The CT scanner: we acquired the first CT body scanner in Belgium in 1976.
- Digital imaging (as opposed to analog x-ray images)
- PACS: thanks to the integration of IT and x-ray image digitalisation, all radiological modalities can communicate with each other and share images. These electronic networks were used to develop PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) systems, which make it possible to exchange, store and view radiological images on computer screens. Our department was one of the first in the country to be equipped with a PACS system in 1999.
- Interventional neuroradiology: this is used to manage the treatment of vascular diseases affecting the nervous system, using minimally invasive techniques. The treatments are performed by inserting a catheter into an artery in the groin. The technique was introduced to Belgium by Dr. Boulanger who joined our team in 1997.
Our department is outfitted with modern equipment for:
- Ultrasound imaging
- Conventional x-ray imaging
- Angiography
- MRI
- Mammography
- CT scanning
