The CEBIODI (CEntre de BIOlogie DIagnostic) laboratory was formed as a not-for-profit organisation on 1 January 2002 following the takeover of the laboratories of Drs. Staquet and Van den Abbeele by the Saint-Jean,Sainte Anne-Saint Remi and Saint Etienne clinics.

The laboratory’s operations serve the needs of many prescribing physicians: prescribing physicians from Clinic Saint-Jean and Magnolia. CEBODI also performs medical analyses for other prescribing physicians, receiving outpatients at the clinics’ sample-collection centres or at the off-site polyclinics or at private doctors’ surgeries.

CEBIODI is an INAMI-accredited laboratory operating 24/7, 7 days a week, across its two hospital sites: Saint-Jean Botanique and Saint-Jean Méridien.

The CEBIODI team includes 7 medical biologists and approximately 65 staff members, including 40 laboratory technologists. Each year, the laboratory conducts over 3,300,000 clinical biology analyses, ranging from routine tests to specialized examinations in areas such as chemistry, hormonology, toxicology, therapeutic drug monitoring, microbiology, infectious serology, hematology, hemostasis and coagulation, immunohematology, non-infectious serology, and spermatology. CEBIODI is also recognized as an intermediary structure for the capacitation of male gametes.

The laboratory is equipped with automated systems and technical resources that allow over 98% of prescribed tests to be carried out in-house. Any outsourced analyses are sent to university laboratories. The entire operational workflow is computerized using specialized laboratory information management software (LIS). Test results are delivered to prescribers either electronically or in printed form.
